Fishing Trip

I signed up for a fishing boat today. The company website said it was open to beginners, but the whole thing was a very strange experience and way more intense then I was ready for. Around 8 am I went over to the location the website said to meet (Iwawada stand in), I was expecting a fishing shop or something fun like the [flying sumo stand in], but it turned out to be more like someones garage with a few benches in it. Some guys eating rice and miso soup. After yelling “sumimasen” a few times, old lady presumable the one who made the food, came out. I explained what I was doing there “Im here for the 9:00 fishing tour”, and she seemed quite confused as to what I was doing. After going through that song and dance a few times, she finally had me sign a few sheets and told me to go to the fishing port down the road by at 9:00. Fast forward to 9:05, I arrive at the fishing port, ready for some relaxing fishing. Instead the guys from the boat are yelling at me to get on, and rush me to jump into the boat across a couple foot gap, which I successfully do. The rest of the passengers, not even sure if I should call them that now, are hunkered down on the back of the boat on what appears to be a mountain of beer crates and fishing tackle boxes. Without fanfare the engine revs up, making conversation impossible, and we rush out of the port.

I didnt mention it but the ocean is absoustely wrecked, part of the reason I even went on this tour was because surfing was out of the question. The swell had been massive for a week or so, due to a storm off the coast [insert some storm terminology], making not only surfing but even fishing out of the question. The sushi place did not even have fish, half their menu was out. Looking back on it now, Im pretty confused as to why we were even out.
